Book Review – The Knight by Steven James

I had the opportunity to participate in a Blog Tour featuring the new book, The Knight, by critically acclaimed author, Steven James.

This is the third entry in a series of books featuring FBI agent Patrick Bowers. Although I did not read the first 2 entries in this series, The Pawn, and The Rock, I was able to get right into the story line.

The reader’s interest is piqued right from the beginning, as Agent Bowers visits the scene of a gruesome murder. It soon becomes evident that this has been the work of a very clever serial killer, and Agent Bowers must find the killer by using his expertise in geoprofiling while managing to stay one story ahead of the perpetrator who is following the sequence of a medieval text .

I especially liked the character development in the book. The reader gets to know Agent Bowers and his family. Could there be a love interest between Patrick and Detective Warren? How does Agent Bowers juggle his life as an FBI agent with that of being a parent of a teenage daughter who is going through her own crisis?

This book will keep you turning pages and guessing “who done it” right to the end. If you enjoy books about crime solving and FBI profiling, this is the book for you.  I look forward to reading The Pawn and The Rook at a future date.  One word of warning, this book is not for the squeamish as it contains graphic descriptions of some gruesome murders.

Available August 2009 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.
